Hotel recruiting in the country's second-busiest hotel pipeline
At mid-2026, Atlanta had the second-largest hotel construction pipeline in the U.S.: 157 projects and more than 17,000 rooms, behind only Dallas. That's a lot of new leadership teams to staff, on top of the managers existing hotels need to replace.
From the convention district to Buckhead
Downtown Atlanta's hospitality economy centers on the Georgia World Congress Center, Centennial Olympic Park and Mercedes-Benz Stadium, which hosted FIFA World Cup 2026 matches. Big convention hotels line the district, and their banquet and group operations run at a scale few markets match.
South of the city, the hotels around Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, one of the world's busiest, run around the clock. Up Peachtree Street, Midtown and Buckhead add luxury hotels and the city's best-known restaurants, and the northern suburbs from Sandy Springs to Alpharetta are home to growing restaurant groups and private clubs.
What hospitality managers earn in Atlanta
| Role (BLS category) | Atlanta metro median | U.S. median |
|---|---|---|
| Food service managers | $67,580 | $69,390 |
| Lodging managers | $64,060 | $69,250 |
Median annual pay, May 2025. Atlanta medians sit slightly below the national figures, but the spread is wide: the best hotel leaders earn twice the median. Paying at the median gets you median candidates.
Hiring challenges in Atlanta
- Group and convention business. Convention and airport hotels need leaders who can run banquets and group volume at scale, a different skill from leisure hospitality.
- A sprawling metro. Commutes from Alpharetta to Downtown can rule candidates in or out. We check location fit early.
- Restaurant group growth. Atlanta-based groups are expanding across the Southeast and need GMs and area managers who can open and scale.
How a search works for Atlanta roles
- We match the business model. Convention, airport, luxury and suburban properties need different strengths, so we start there.
- We check the commute early. Atlanta traffic decides offers, so we confirm a candidate's location works before you interview.
- We recruit from comparable properties. We approach managers at similar convention, select-service and luxury hotels, and growing restaurant groups across the Southeast.
- We screen for scale. For group-heavy hotels, finalists have run banquets and events at real volume.
- You meet a short list. Typically within two to three weeks, and we stay involved through the first six months.
