Hotel and restaurant recruiting in a record-setting market
Visitors spent a record $11.6 billion in Nashville in 2025, across 17.4 million visits, and about 74,000 people work in the city's leisure and hospitality industry. The building isn't slowing either: Nashville had the third-largest hotel construction pipeline in the U.S. at mid-2026, with 122 projects and more than 16,000 rooms.
Every new hotel needs a full leadership team before it opens, which means the same pool of experienced managers gets recruited again and again.
From Lower Broadway to Opryland
Nashville's hospitality scene is unlike anywhere else. Lower Broadway is lined with multi-level honky-tonks and artist-branded bars, from Luke Bryan's six-level, eight-bar venue to Blake Shelton's Ole Red and Kid Rock's five-floor honky-tonk, each running several stages and bars at once. Managers there are running small entertainment complexes, not single bars.
A block over, Fifth + Broadway, which opened in 2021, added a large food hall, around ten bars, three stages and a rooftop music venue across from Bridgestone Arena and the Ryman, plus the National Museum of African American Music. Add the Music City Center's convention business downtown, the Gaylord Opryland Resort's convention and resort operation northeast of downtown, and fast-growing dining in The Gulch, East Nashville and Germantown, and the city needs leaders for very different kinds of venues.
What hospitality managers earn in Nashville
| Role (BLS category) | Nashville metro median | U.S. median |
|---|---|---|
| Food service managers | $69,860 | $69,390 |
| Lodging managers | $60,840 | $69,250 |
Median annual pay, May 2025. Restaurant management pay tracks the national median, but the top 10% of Nashville lodging managers earn more than $130,000, a sign of how much the market pays for proven hotel leaders.
Hiring challenges in Nashville
- Openings compete for the same people. With so many hotels under construction, pre-opening teams poach from existing properties. Retention has to be part of every offer.
- Volume is extreme. Downtown restaurants and bars run at a pace few markets match, especially on weekends and during major events. Managers need to have led at that volume.
- Rising living costs. Candidates relocating in compare Nashville rents with home. Clear compensation and relocation details close offers faster.
How a search works for Nashville roles
- We learn the venue type. A Broadway honky-tonk, a convention hotel and a chef-driven restaurant in East Nashville need very different leaders.
- We benchmark pay locally. Nashville pay sits near the national median, but strong candidates expect more, so we set a competitive offer up front.
- We recruit from comparable venues. We approach managers who've run similar volume, here and in markets like Austin, New Orleans and Atlanta.
- We screen for volume and stamina. Finalists have led through event weekends, crowds and multi-bar operations, and know how to protect their teams.
- You meet a short list. Typically within two to three weeks, and we stay involved through the first six months.
